Accreditations

Southern Illinois University Carbondale's programs or units are accredited by a diverse group of accrediting agencies. Accreditation provides assurance to the public, in particular to prospective students, that a program has been found to meet the agency's clearly stated requirements and criteria and that there are reasonable grounds for believing that it will continue to meet them. The process of accreditation provides an opportunity for critical self-analysis leading to improvement in quality and for consultation and advice from persons from other institutions. Common Data Set

The Common Data Set (CDS) initiative is a collaborative effort among data providers in the higher education community and publishers as represented by the College Board, Peterson's-Thompson Learning, and U.S. News & World Report. The CDS is a collection of standard data items and definitions that are utilized by the higher education community and publishers. The combined goal of this collaboration is to improve the quality and accuracy of information provided to all involved in a student's transition into higher education, as well as to reduce the reporting burden on data providers.
